Goodbye Connecticut!

I am so sorry that I didn't post anything in the last 4 month. So much happened! I changed host families and lived with my coordinator for a month. The play was awesome, I got so many compliments and I am really thinking about studying acting. It's crazy. Anyways - I went to my first potluck, I absolutely loved it. I went to New York City and Boston. Ohhhh and I had PROM - it was amazing. Why don't we have something like that in Germany? Germany is missing out.

So I changed host families but I still love them and care about them and we are still in contact. That makes me really happy. I am so grateful that I met those people and I wouldn't want a different First host family. After I decided to change I lived with my coordinator - for a month. It was okay, I am really thankful that she took me when  my organization was looking for a new host family. One of my friends  took me after a month in her home. We share a room and fight since than about everything, I love her thou.

The play was fabulous, I miss all my play buddies, we had such a good time together and the play was great. We got all three shows full and that was pretty amazing. I still know all my lines. Haha. I never knew that acting and being on stage could be so much fun. I love it and I am really considering studying it after I graduate.

My host aunt lives in New York City so my host sister, Charlotte, and I took the train from New Heaven to New York. It was a pretty long ride but I enjoyed it. I saw Central Park, the Empire State Building ( I didn't go up thou, because it was so expensive) Times Square. We got Tickets for a modern dance performance and it was really impressing. We went shopping A LOT, I mean with that - Every day. New York City is just like in the movies. We also visited some family in Boston, I saw the University of Harvard. It was sooo unbelievable cool! The USA is just crazy amazing.

My prom was on May 30th. It was on a boat and I expected more to be honest (because of the american movies and stuff) but I still had a lot of fun with my friends. Everybody was dressed up so nicely and looked beautiful.

However, my year in the States is in only 20 days over. I am leaving on June 30th and will be in Germany on the 1st of July. I am so happy to see my family and friends again, but I am also gonna be really sad to leave my friends and family here. I will definitely come back to visit.

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”― Mahatma Gandhi

Happy new year and חנוכה שמחה (Happy Hanukkah) to everybody. I  am so sorry that I didn't write anything in the last 2 months. Our play (High School Musical) gets closer everyday and I'm studying my lines so hard to be perfect but I am really exited about my role, she is too crazy, I just love it. My Hanukkah was pretty awesome. On Hanukkah everybody gets to open up one gift each and every night of Hanukkah, which is eight nights long. We ate Latkes (potato pancakes) with Applesauce and played dreidel with the kids. It was really cool. My New Year was really "Interesting" we went to a bowling center with loud horrible music, but it was kind of fun, after that we went home and watched TV to midnight. !!!New Year!!!. I just think that New Year in America is not such a big deal like in Germany. People don't buy a bunch of Fireworks or drink Alcohol like in my home country. (Americans really make a big thing about drinking alcohol and it's crazy that you can buy cigarettes with 18 but alcohol only at 21? People can buy soft alcohol with 16 years in Germany.) Anyway. I GO TO THE TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT with my host mum in Philadelphia in June. Awesomeness!!! I am super exited and happy. We (my host family and I) will also go to Florida on Spring Break (Disneyworld and that stuff, just wonderful) I hardly can't wait for it. I also turned sweet 16 in November and it was beautiful. Best year of my young life.

One of my best friends and me.

Sweet 16 Nelly.

Winter concert with our chorus.

Bonjour.

High school? I love my High school. First I didn't like it because of the uniforms and that stuff but so many things changed and OMGosh I love when the teachers call me honey or cutie pie. At my school in Germany, this is impossible. In America you have this feelings that the teachers really care about your future. I am really afraid to go back to Germany in 8 months. I love everything here, so so much. And an incredible thing happened last week -     I got a lead part in our school musical!! It was unbelievable and I am so happy and grateful that somebody really believed and trusted me to take on a major role. I am so excited!

These pictures show how I am sitting on the couch with my host sister and learning my lines; my school; our school buses, and the nice paper with my name on it.

The Moments of an Exchange student

Fly to Washington D.C. , USA

The Moment when your host mum and you run to the wrong car at pouring rain.
The Moment when your host dad and you talk about sports and gardening together.
The Moments when your little host brother say that he wants to tell you something from brother to sister.
The Moment when your host parents contend who can drive better car and you and your host sister look each other in the eyes and laugh.
The Moment when you went to see your host brother perform something in the theater and you cry at the end, because it was so fabulous.
The Moment when you watch bubbel gubbies with your little host sister only to make her happy.
The Moment when your friends in school try to speak German.
These little Moments make your exchange year to something special.

 I am in Americaaa, wahhhh!
Can´t believe it...
So my really first school week is completed, My classes are Health, Algebra 2, U.S. History, American Literatur, Chorus, Science, Global Studies and Spanish. I also must wear uniforms at my school, but I think thats good!
My host mum and I was in the movie theater and we watched a really good movie. I also made applesauce and Eierkuchen and I hope they liked it.
I have new shoes and the cutest family on this planet. I am super happy and so thankful,
We were shopping and I bought the nicest pajama pants ever, soooo soft. I also must say everything is so american: big shops, double portions of food, delicious but not really healthy food, school is easier then in Germany, the people are so sweet and nice. I belive that I love this in America, How open and friendly everybody is!
I also get a lot of hugs in the school, I don't know why but I really like it.
